Beverly Christie Phebus
Marital status: Widow I married my high school sweetheart, Clark Phebus, in 1971. After graduation, I worked at GEICO in quality control for a few years until our first child was born. Thereafter, I've had the privilege of being a stay-at-home wife and mother. God has blessed us with 3 adult children, 6 wonderful grandkids, and 1 great grandchild. Clark passed away in 2014. This year we would have been married 51 years. My enjoyment for adventure has taken me many beautiful places. In my earlier years, I back-packed Scandinavia and Ecuador, and went on a mission trip to Malaysia and Singapore. I've seen most of the states and have been on several cruises, the latest being a European River cruise on the Danube. My hobbies include snorkeling, sewing, decorating, crafts, bowling, camping and biking. I keep busy with the grandkids, friends, family and church activities. I volunteer at the Rescue Mission, Meals On Wheels, church and my community. |
Connie Cochran
Occupation: Owner Master Stylist, OC Hair Studio Marital status: Single 50 years ago+2, after graduation, I like many seniors before me and after me headed to Ocean City for the honored rite of leaving adolescence behind and moving towards adulthood (and a whole lot of partying in between). I didn't know at that time I would become a business owner. I have owned "Ocean City Hair Studio" for the next 40 years. In honing my craft I was able to travel many times to Paris France for additional training and found travel has become a passion. Living near the Ocean and all that has to offer has been a fantastic life style. Didn't a wise person say ”If you're lucky to spend a day at the beach, you're lucky enough." I am still living at the beach with my 4 legged best friend "Lulu." In closing I want to send blessings to all our classmates whom will be here with us and also those who will remain 18 forever in our hearts. |

I appeared in feature films, "Avalon", "He Said-She Said", and "Cry Baby." I performed in Dinner Theaters up and down the East Coast. Television, Commercials, and Modeling round out my career. My latest adventure is writing. An Autobiography: "TENDER TARNISH" The Fire and Rain Chronicles The Horror and Madness Up On "Hell's Half Acre" "Where the souls of the living dead are now nothing more than earthbound spirits. At the least shadowed memories endlessly wandering in the darkness of despair and hopelessness, bound by destiny's shackles in an abyss of blackening pitch. One survivor still lives. He fought and battled horrors starting at age three. He tells the story of an ill-fated family. Telling their story of life and death moments through short stories, prose, and poetry. Metaphorically laden, the truths lie between and within the battle scars that were branded in the mind and on the body. Each family member wore a 'Scarlet Letter' throughout their lives in a small town called Frederick, Maryland up on 'HELL'S HALF ACRE'." Publisher "XLIBRIS" |

Dale Alicia (Ganley) Clabaugh
Occupation: Insurance Agent; 46 years with State Farm Insurance Residing In: Walkersville, MD Marital Status: Divorced 2007 After TJ, I earned my degree from the University of Maryland in 1974, was hired into management at State Farm Insurance, and married Mike Clabaugh. What a year that was! In 1976 we took in two horses as boarders to offset the cost of my own two horses, and over the next fifteen years, that operation turned into 55 horses boarding at the farm, as well as an international horse show facility that saw about 3500 competitors a year. In 1979, I opened my State Farm Insurance Agency and it is still going strong today. I have no plans to retire because it is wonderful to still be able to take care of people in such a personal way. Our children, son, Dakota and soon to be daughter-in-law (Kara) are in Tampa FL and daughter, Madison and son-in-law (Jeff) in Frederick, are the joy of our lives. No grandchildren, but I am patiently hopeful! 2007 found me divorced and shutting down the horse show business and most of the boarders dispersing. I moved my horse show skills to another facility and to this day, I help to organize, judge, and announce equestrian events. I have one horse currently, a Norwegian Fjord, and hope that he will take me through the rest of this journey of life. I still love to ride, swim, and shoot (sporting clays mostly). I am a certified diver and I love most water activities. I stay very engaged in many community organizations and love all the opportunities it gives me to serve in some productive way. Maybe my favorite is being a member of the Saint John the Evangelist choir, in the alto section. After married life, I started traveling the world - perhaps looking for me :-) It is truly my passion. While the children were still in high school and college, they accompanied me and we were great companions for one another and made the most amazing memories. Since then, I continue to travel with friends. I want to keep going while I can, there is so much to learn here at home and all over the world. I am keeping my dance card full and hope to dance through the rest of this life with as much wonderment and joy as possible. I hold fast to old friends and I am always happy to meet new ones. |

Howie Neufeld
Occupation: Professor of Biology at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC Residing in: Vilas, a teeny-tiny area just west of Boone, NC Marital Status, Spouse’s Name: Married to Claudia P. Cartaya After TJ, I went to Rutgers in NJ (where most of my family was from), and majored in math, but in my junior year I switched over to Forestry. After graduating in 1975, I went to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science and got my Masters, followed by a Ph.D. in 1984 from the University of Georgia. After graduating as a bulldog twice (Yale’s mascot is a bulldog, and Yalies founded UGA), I did two post-docs, one at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and another with the EPA in Corvallis, OR. I have taught biology at Appalachian State University for 33 years, with a few more to go before retiring. By the way, I’m not the only Fredericktonian here – Greg Rhoades, also from Frederick, teaches in the Math Department. My first marriage was to a girl I met at UGA and we had a son, Ross, who is now 32 and lead engineer for cyber-security at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. I have a daughter from my second marriage, Gabriela, who is 23, and a high school science teacher in Charlotte, NC. I met my current wife Claudia at Appstate. She is a Chemistry professor, and will step down as Chair this summer. She is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. My work over the years focused on the impacts of ozone pollution on plants, and it has taken me to China, Japan, several European countries, Canada and Mexico. Linda Wertheimer on NPR interviewed me in 2000 on “All Things Considered”, about ozone pollution in the Smokies, and Katy Tur interviewed me on the Weather Channel. I have a Facebook site (Fall Color Guy) which I use to inform people about the fall leaf colors in North Carolina. I tried to resurrect my tennis career recently, but my knees said “NO!” Jim McNitt was my TJ doubles partner. Jim – I apologize, 50 years late, for hitting you in the back of the head with my serve. I did continue playing the euphonium for a number of years in the community band, and I want to say a belated thanks to Gary Smith for being the best high school band conductor there ever was. And if any of you were late for school, you probably had to deal with my mom, who worked at TJ. She’ll be 94 in July, is still living in the family home on 14th Street, and can outdo me with the Washington Post crossword puzzles! Looking forward to seeing everyone at our 50th! |

Name: Deborah (Debby) Parks Wulff
Occupation: Director of Human Resources (retired) Residing in: Windsor, CO Marital status: Married to Bill Wulff (class of '69) Bill and I have been married 50 years in August, 2022. Shortly after we were married, we moved to San Diego CA and started our family. We have two beautiful daughters, one who lives in San Diego and one who lives in Fort Collins CO, two wonderful sons-in-law, and four grandchildren (two in each location). During our time in San Diego, I finished my BA in Human Resources Management and worked for the Poway Unified School District. It was there that I began my career in Human Resources and retired 30+ years later. After 40 years in San Diego, we retired and moved to Northern Colorado where the air was clear and the cost of living more reasonable. While still in California, I started backpacking with middle schoolers in a school district sponsored summer program in 1989. From there, I started leading backpacking trips for women in 1991 and backpacked throughout the Sierras for 23 consecutive years. I loved every minute of it! Since moving to Colorado, I have found a new love in fly fishing. I play "at" golf occasionally, and briefly hiked with the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers as a volunteer ranger. I continue to play the violin, mostly for my own enjoyment and at our church. I am a model train enthusiast and built my first layout for the grandchildren, but it quickly became a layout for me when I kept finding ways to make it bigger and better. Bill and I travel as often as we can in the US and Europe, and "glamp" in our travel trailer in the Rockies when we are home. I still get involved in way too many things, which always leaves me strapped for time. It has been wonderful to read the profiles that so many of you have posted and I hope to continue seeing updates from the Class of 1970! |

We have been blessed with two boys, seven grandchildren and a great grand baby. |
Rick Wolfe Spouse's name: Janis Schmitz I moved to Wisconsin in ’78. Never thought I would get out of Fredneck alive. I still miss living in the mountains. I have always said that when I retire I will stop mowing grass or blowing snow. I guess I am not retired, just tired. I couldn’t figure out why life is getting busier and busier until I realized that it now takes me four times as long to do anything then it used to. Recently I started to raise a few chickens. Must be doing something right, haven’t killed any yet. The four most important people in my life, so far, have been my mother, my best friend, my daughter and granddaughter. All female, wonder what that means? Some of the world’s problems that have arisen recently are ones that I thought were solved in the 60’sand 70’s. They were only covered up and allowed to fester. Had I known then what I know now. We are all one. Peace and love. |
